Done.

But the problem is that the door closes fully, but won't stay closed. It closes -- and then immediately reverses and reopens. If it was a problem of something interrupting the light beam, it would reverse before closing.
The only other thing I can think of is the stop is set too low such that the door hits the floor before the stop engages.  The opener then cranks the door back open since there is an obstruction.  Just a WAG.
I was thinking the stop has to be set just a hair before it hits, but it has been quite sometime since I installed my opener.

That's why I tried adjusting what I thought was the down-ravel limit switch.

But the thing has been working fine for 20 or so years -- and now it's not. So I think it's more likely that something broke, rather than that something decided to go out of adjustment after 20 years.

Can you adjust it up so the door stops well above the floor?  Just as a test?

That stop not working is all I can think of.

I forgotten that I took a picture of the broken wire. At least I was correct on 3 wires on the limit switch.

Now don't leave us hanging if you figure it out, let us know.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
