From reading the article, it's a Pro-Russian crazy in one town in the Ukraine that has seized local power. But you know that's gonna bring up some bad connotations.
It'll be interesting to see what Putin does with this. Obama would distance himself from someone like this. Putin might have the guy burned alive in the town square for messing with Russia's PR right now.

Well, at least it's just the old fashioned traditional antisemitism that's dominated the region for centuries that doesn't see people killed, well... too often anyway, and not that over-the-top Hitler kind.
-
So remind me again which is more effective, a catchy slogan like "Never again!" or the traditionally oppressed minority group being heavily armed? The failure of the Jewish people throughout the (non-Israel) world to embrace being armed is truly baffling to me, given the history of animosity towards their people.

Uhm. Israel has significantly worse gun laws than NY, California, etc. By an insane margin.
Don't confuse off-duty government employees with actual RKBA.

The strain of intellectualist socialism/progressivism among Jews isn't materially different from that of liberals in the U.S.; i.e. a group of people who believe those bad things were perpetrated by unenlightened barbarians a long time ago and society has evolved beyond them. Purge the barbarians, foster social conscience/justice, and the bad stuff can't happen again.
You know, the power of the care bear stare.

But with the mandatory service requirements isn't the physical act of having a gun still pretty darn common?

Less common than you think. Especially since the usual suspects have disarmed a large fraction of the troops.
...yes, seriously they did.

Whoa, it's been a while.

Middlemen minority groups have a tendency to glom on to the powerful and power centers. They depend on money influence and connections for group safety. For instance when the maylays were rioting and slaughtering overseas chinese in maylasia the chinese did not arm themselves but paid off the govt head man to provide a platoon of soldiers to patrol the chinese part of town and kill frisky maylays.
It works alright until some son of the soil with no regard for the middleman minority gains power and figures he and his are better off with the middleman minority gone. Jews in europe and the middle east the overseas chinese in the orient and particular indians along the coast of africa have all played this hand fir a busfed flush at one time or another.

I have a feeling that even were this spelled correctly, I'd not grok the reference. :O ???

Busted Flush.
Dealt a bad hand. Didn't win/survive.

Yep, not too hard to differentiate my smartphone posts from a more conventional interface from the typos and minimalist punctuation. Maybe I ought to adopt a telegram format.
A flush is a poker hand where you have all cards of one suit. All spades or hearts or clubs or diamonds. A busted flush is an unsuccessful attempt at a flush, usually with one card off-suit. A flush is a relatively higher ranking hand and one one may reasonably bet heavy on it if one suspects one can pull it off. OTOH, a busted flush is close to worthless and anything bet in hopes of the flush is likely lost.
Hence the analogy: Middleman minorities bet on the powerful and influential for protection and to keep their status in society. That works out OK most times until it doesn't and then they get slaughtered and given the boot and lose heavy.

Getting back on topic (I know- heresy!)
#1 - how come this is not leading the news?
#2 - how come the diplomatic discussion is so "diplomatic"?
and #4 - does anybody really think Israel wants another influx of Eastern European/Russian Jews? This is, presupposing the Jews wanted to go to Israel. And I also notice that we (USA) are not opening up our borders like we did in 1989.
stay safe.

Because it's not a real leaflet, the Donetsk "government" rejected having anythig to do with it.

Israel has large, fairly-well-funded, government programs encouraging Jewish immigration.
Israel also has the Law of Return, which entitles Eastern European or Russian Jews to Israeli citizenship.

Right. One... two... five.

Fake documents aren't exactly an uncommon tool. Especially where Jews are concerned.

Like the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion"?
Not sure which way you're going with this.

False flag docs. Release it as if it came from pro-Russian forces. Propaganda. Which is an accusation being bandied about.

The more I watch this entire situation in Russia/Ukraine, the more I keep thinking this line in my head...

God I hope not.

That much is obvious, and I get it. Although whether it's a lone-wolf antisemite indulging in wishful thinking, or a false-flag attempt at discrediting the Russian occupation/pro-Russian Ukrainian elements, I can't say. (double-false flag?)
White Horseradish's comment is kind of cryptic. I can't tell if he's implying that antisemites are always involved in false documents, or if Jews are. Both? ???

Eh... Driveby posting...
What I meant is that using Jews and using fake documents to stir things up is something that has happened many times in history. I don't mean Jews make fake documents. ;)

That was my guess, which is why I threw out the Protocols of the Elders of Zion as an example.
