I've had my 2nd glitch in 5.5 years with the controls on my front end loader on my tractor. 1st time was just a loose bolt and easy enough to see.the problem after opening the joystick cover.
Current issue may go a little deeper. Loader control has a "float" position that is detent held in the all the way forward position. Tried to use it yesterday and even passed the detent it was pushing the bucket down. I'll take the cover off the joystick this morning to see if there is anything obvious going on hoping it's just a control adjustment. But barring that could I be looking at a problem in the actual valve itself.

That's who I'm hoping will chime in.

I dinked around with it a little this morning and tried to adjust the Teleflex cables from the joystick to the valve but couldn't get any change out of it. I was able to figure out that if I push n the joystick passed the detent it does go into "float" but you have to hold the lever.
Kind of makes me think it may yet be an adjustment.

You have a Kioti, right? I looked but found no diagrams on their website to get a picture of what the setup looks like.

If you can't get it adjusted it might be an internal wear issue. You can install detent replacement kits, if you can find it for what you have...or replace the whole valve.

If you have to replace the control valve or repair it, keep everything extremely CLEAN. Inspect the control valve spool and make sure nothing is damaged.

Here's a good thread with some general info about this subject

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/hydraulics/273159-loader-float-detent.html

Call up the dealer and talk to them, they may have some tips for ya.

Tractorbynet is also a good resource there is probably someone on there who has either had the exact issue with the same model of tractor or can help with sourcing parts.

Thanks, with only 180 hours on the tractor I'm hoping it isn't a wear issue.
I used to frequent several tractor forums. I'll dig in to.them some.

Par ably just a detent issue. Sometimes they get gunk or rust in them or the spring breaks.
How does it look with the cover off? Everything works normal but doesn't go into float? Or doesn't stay in float?
What we have here is failure to communicate.

The joystick mechanism looks almost new and appears to function properly. It goes into the detent position but it still runs pressure to the rams in the down direction. If I push it a little passed the detent it goes into float. I did attempt to adjust the cable but wasn't able to effect any change. Not sure if the physical detent is in the joystick mechanism or in the valve itself.
Still digging for info online but haven't had much time to search.
