Title: I hate plumbing. Hate, hate, hate, hate. (%#&@*%!@%$&%$ !!!!!)

Trying to sell the house when I notice that a part of the floor in the basement is wet.

WTF, O?  I paid to waterproof the basement several years ago.

Further investigations leads to a small hole in the 4" cast iron drain pipe from the lavatory in the master bathroom.

Off to the hardware store and buy some plumbers epoxy to seal the leak.  It look like about 3/16" hole.  Grab the steel toothbrush from the gun bench to make sure the area around the leak can create good adhesion, and suddenly I have a 3/4" by 2" long hole in the pipe.

So tomorrow I have 3 plumbers coming to give estimates to replace the section of pipe in question.

I really didn't want to put anymore $$$ into this house.  I'm trying to get my money out.

Just use duct tape to hold the plumbers epoxy in.

Damn.
Reminds me, I need to replace a bunch of ticking time bombs in my house known as 'galvanized pipe.'

What's your local code on that stuff?

Same thing happened in my parents house and they ended up having to replace pretty much the entire drain line to get it up to code and have the permit signed off.
