Title: Overdue range time with my .45
Post by: Kingcreek on April 18, 2022, 09:54:23 AM
Saturday had some pretty good weather and no specific demands on my time.
My Springfield armory 1911 was built by Rob Leatham when he was head of the custom shop in the 1980s. I put thousands of rounds through it in competition and practice before it was serviced (light rebuild) by Les Baer.
I couldn’t remember the last time I shot it.
I put about 150 rounds through it. The gun is flawless. I am not.
I can still shoot quite accurately and I can shoot pretty fast but I can’t shoot fast accurately. Slow and clumsy on reloads even with the racing mag holders and flared mag well.
I guess I need more practice.

You don't need more practice - you want more practice!  =)

I've got a bunch of loaded up 1911 mags sitting in my range bag right now, but I haven't been able to get to the club for almost a month. I needs to put some big boy rounds downrange myself.

That's cool that you have a Leatham built pistol!
