Need Excel/calculus help pronto!
« on: February 05, 2006, 09:39:18 AM »
I have an engineering problem I'm trying to figure out with Excel (a requirement).  If anyone's a big wiz please shoot me an email at mahp2004@yahoo.com.  I appreciate it!

Try these.  When I took Micro Apps I & II , Thomson Learning in association with Shelly Cashman did the texts.

SCITE.COM  has provided me and others with resources off their site. Me, since taking the class, others needing assistance as you do.

edit

Phooey! just checked these, seems to have changed.

IF you have MS office suite there should be templates ( might be on disk if not loaded) with a demo and help file.

I don't have my notes from that class , there "was" a search feature to use to assist with questions and such...

Let me think...okay some have used OpenOffice.ORG [free] to use when they did not have MS Office Suite and did not want to buy.

I am unable to access an online class myself at the moment [ ongoing Gremlins giving me fits] else I would use another education learning tool...just cannot get into the damn site with resources!

Sorry...I tried. When on campus tommorrow I will be able to peruse some resources for other classes and see if one has some Excel ,other MS office resources.

Try this page:  http://www.j-walk.com/ss/excel/usertips/formulatips.htm

OR.......

You could post what you are actually trying to do.
"Belief" is the acceptance of a hypothesis in the absence of data.
"Prejudice" is having an opinion not supported by the preponderance of the data.
"Knowledge" is only found through the accumulation and analysis of data.
The plural of anecdote is not "data"

Here we go:

The ground vibration during and earthquate can be represented by the following equations:

X= X0 *e^(-Beta*t)*(cos(omega*t+phi)+(beta/omega)*sin(omega*t=phi)]

Y is the same except replace the X0 (meaning Xzero) with Y0

The parameters phi, beta, and omega can be different for the x and y motions.
It is desired to prepare an excel workbook in such a manner that the first sheet includes the values of the parameters X0, Y0, beta, omega, and the time in a sumulation of 12 seconds in the following order:

X0 is amplitude of vibration forr x of 3 in.
beta is damping for x axis at .025
omega is freq of vibration of x at 1.25
phi is phase shift for x at 0.0
Y0 is amp of vib for y of 3 in.
beta is damping for y motion is .025
omega (freq of vibration) for y motion is 1.75
phi is phase shift for y motion at 1.570795
Time increment is .065 sec.

The second page of the wookbook should consist of a table wtih seven columns in the following sequence (this is the part where I'm stuck, I have no clue as to how to write this formula. I've started it. but haven't gotten far).

Then it is desired to draw for graphs listed below (I can do this fine once I get that blasted sheet 2 done).

...has left the building.
