This includes what the state knows we own. (https://reason.com/2021/09/27/california-will-let-violence-prevention-researchers-know-that-you-have-a-gun/)
That's guns, gun parts, and ammo.
There is no justification for this.
This only being done to harass gun owners and make folks more timid about buying guns.
I assume pro-gun groups will be launching lawsuits to stop this.
And doesn't this fall afoul of the Fourth Amendment?

Data breech in 5........4.........3.......

Wow.
This concerns me as well as a former Californian. I didn't buy any guns for probably the last 15 or so years that I lived there, other than a Ruger LCR. Partly because I didn't want to be part of the newer tracking stuff, and partly because I don't buy neutered weapons.
I wonder how far back they will be going in the records, and if they'll be getting access to all the address forwarding information out there, which would affect the privacy of all of us who have fled.
Anyways, I bet the CalGuns server is heating up right about now.

Anti-gun people might not like their home addresses and income numbers posted publicly.
Of course, no one should do that. :-X

Not one bit surprised.

Didn't something like this happen to a newspaper when they said they were going to be releasing CCW holders information?

I think you mean fall into the sea earthquake.
-
Instead of a "fall into sea" quake, it might be better if La Palma island and the Mount Cumbre Vieja volcano were off the West Coast. When the slope of the volcano collapses, the tsunami would "wash" the West Coast "clean" and we could start over. >:D

They're making the process the punishment. The best case scenario is it could be proved that the politicians knew of the plans for the inevitable "accidental" release of the info. But the cynic in me assumes that even if that could be proven there would be no consequences.

Long Valley Caldera is in California, and it has been restless lately. (think Yellowstone supervolcano) Unfortunately it's in eastern California, but looks like it might be close enough to Sacramento and San Francisco to take them out. (Fresno would be screwed bigtime)

Well lava would clean the crap off the sidewalk better than water.

Lava wouldn't make it that far, but the hot ash would cover it up nicely. :)
