What did you get for christams?
« on: December 26, 2012, 01:41:57 PM »
Since no one seems to have started a Christmas bounty thread, lets give it a go.

Kitchen aid 6qt mixer (yes I am a MAN that bakes and cooks)
A food mill. I can finally make use of the freezer full of tomatoes.
A drill bit doctor. (this has been on my list for 3 years, if it did not come I was buying it myself)
A large drill bit set. fractional, number and letter sizes. (most my sets are missing so many bits it was not even funny)
A 3 sided Arkansas sharpening stone. I already sharpened one knife.
2 sweaters
A cast iron skillet, little small might exchange.
A hard drive dock.
And a few other odds and ends.

I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

Fistful was talking about your spelling, not certain holidays, such as Kwanza.  And he didn't mention the Ramada chain of hotels at all.   :police:

Hey, at least there was no "L" missing from it.

Only one item, but a big one: a Powermatic 719T hollow chisel mortiser.  It's overkill for making square holes, but it will retain its value.

Kitchen aid 6qt mixer (yes I am a MAN that bakes and cooks)

Costco started up here in the Seattle area in the fall of 1987.  I became a member then and almost my very first purchase at Costco was a KA heavy duty series K5SS mixer.  I have toted that thing around through several moves and divorces and it is still on my counter today.  It is one of the most useful kitchen tools that I own.  I used it just this weekend to make some Xmas cupcakes and frosting for Xmas dinner.  I was once talking with an kitchen appliance repair guy, and he told me that if it ever broke, to have it repaired. He said that the quality of the motor and metal gearing used back then far exceeds the contemporary mixers.

I got a canvas gym bag, a very heavy terrycloth robe (why do people keep giving me robes? I seldom wear them and have 6 or 7 already), and a winter coat.  Also I bought myself a badger-bristle shaving brush and a fireplace bellows.  I am *very* hard to shop for because I don't need or want much, and when i do want something I buy it.

My parents sent me a check, but I accidentally ran it through the washing machine and it disintegrated.

I'm trying to figure out which of the older robes I can give to Goodwill and which ones I need to keep.

50" TV.  About a month ago.  Really a family gift, but I acknoweldged I wouldn't get much if I got the tv.

Most of our christmas dough goes to the kids, like every year.  Son got a new mountain bike, 24" tires.  Daughter got a new guitar.  She's already watching the videos trying to learn.

Maybe they are trying to tell you something?  Do you tend to walk around the house in your underwear (or less)?

I thought of that.  No, I usually wear velour pajama pants and a tee shirt.  No holes in either.

I bought them at Cabela's, they are maroon and black with mooses printed on them (not gay at all.)

They are warm, and they don't get holes in them like fleece (sweat pants)

Oh, okay. Then I must be thinking of the Australian airline company. Or is Quanza the name of those half-tube metal huts the Navy used in WWII?

What's wrong with going to Hindenberg, TN to watch Lindbergh cheese being made? And what does cheese have to do with Australian airlines?
