A 52 yr old woman was shot to death by a sheriff's deputy(s???) in our town the night before last.  This is a highly unusual event.  What's also unusual is the dearth of information released to the public.

The woman's funeral was today.  She was divorced, 1 kid in HS, 1 in college.

The woman had a long history of drug offenses and minor violations.  Lots of traffic stuff, DUI, driving with license revoked/suspended, no insurance, etc.

The shooting apparently took place during a traffic stop in a residential neighborhood.  Both of our county's deputies (both, as in all two of them) were present.  The rumor mill varies as to the number of shots fired, between 1 and 4.  Absolutely zero information as to what prompted the shooting.  No mention of a weapon/assault/resisting...nothing.

What's really wierd is the news coverage.  Couple of paragraphs in the paper on Tues (paper comes out on Tues and Fri).  Brief spot on the TV news in Omaha.....name, shot by deputies, investigation by State Patrol.  Absolutely no mention of the event on our hourly local radio news broadcasts.  That's really wierd.

A grand jury investigation is required by state law.

I'm not jumping to conclusions, but the way this is being handled makes me wonder how much this is going to cost our county of 10K folks in the lawsuit.

The story "Boys Don't Cry" actually took place here...we paid Tina Brandon's mother a million bucks because the sheriff at the time screwed the pooch.  We also paid big bucks for the two murderers' legal fees in their trials/appeals (still ongoing) until the state stepped in and saved the county from bankruptcy.

I'll keep everyone posted if/when info comes out.

That IS really weird.  Shouldn't there be news "updates" every half-hour with new baseless allegations and speculation, with experts from academia trying out their lastest theories (found in the Professor's book, which has been read by nearly 500 members of his field)?

Still today there's no mention of the incident on the local radio's news broadcasts.

You have to understand how "podunk" our locality is.  The local radio covers EVERY scintilla of EVERY board activity (school board, natural resources development board, city council, county commission, rural fire district, etc.) in the most pedantic fashion that you can imagine.

For nothing to be mentioned about this is beyond wierd...and really suspicious.
