I know the article says that it's not meant to be eaten, and that it is supposed to show the impact of food production blah blah blah.

Are they actually inedible for some reason?  I'm fond of saying "protein is protein" when the subject of odd foods comes up, but what's the deal with "not meant to be eaten?"  Did they DNA-replicate some kind of nasty while they were replicating the "meat?"

Fascinating (but a bit scary) scientific achievement.
