While I'll be watching it on DVD, I can't wait to see it.
The latest problem with the movie is that there are not enough people of color or women in it. As one of the commenters sarcastically noted, "Why do all Pearl Harbor movies depict that attackers as Japanese?"
I think for once we should also depict Hitler as a black woman who murdered millions of Jews. Only the Jews should be Muslims.

He's missing just women and people of color?
What about transgender French soldiers?
What about transvestite sailors in the British fleet?

I'm interested in it for the historical aspect and because it was actually shot on film and intended to be projected with 70mm film.

Why would the reviewer want women or POC there? Dunkirk was totally like the complete opposite of a safe space.

if you watch much Brit TV, you will have noticed that they have let 'diversity' run amok. Paki, black, asian actors playing parts that you KNOW they don't fit.

The real question, though, is just how clueless about history, about the biggest world event of the 20th century are you when you find it "jarring" that Wesley Snipes doesn't show up to save the day or that Sandra Bullock is not driving a tank that will explode if it goes under 50 miles per hour?

Saving those young, white males were other white males. Trying to kill those young, white males were other white males.

In the name of diversity, the next remake of Roots should star Rick Schroeder in the role of Kunta Kinte.
In the name of diversity, the next remake of Pearl Harbor should star Britney Spears in the role of Isoroku Yamamoto, and Oprah Winfrey as FDR.
And of course, the next WWII movie set in Europe should have Jackie Chan as Hitler . . . and Eddie Murphy as Stalin.
A Blacula remake needs to star Jack Black, of course.
The next 007 movie can include a shot of the master spy being knighted by Queen Elizabeth, as played by Ru Paul.

They do have a point. If I remember correctly, somewhere between 1/4-1/3 of the total evacuated where French Troops. And two French Divisions (along with the British 51st Highland) formed most of the rearguard.

Seems like people were a lot less angry when we were a lot less diversified.
