Robovac!
« on: January 21, 2018, 12:28:09 AM »
So I traded in the Nest thermostat that my wife got for my birthday for a Eufy Robovac 11 plus.  I have run it for a single cleaning cycle (90 minutes) and emptied the dust collector twice.  I now have it programmed to run every midnight.  It can handle medium-pile carpet as well as the tile and hardwood. This is going to be great to pick up the cat litter and miscellaneous dirt and debris between the cleaning lady visits.  $200 on sale at Amazon.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,

Do you have dogs, or just cats?

We'd really like to have one of these robot vacs at Casa de Mush, but I have a very fluffy GSD-mix and worry that the onboard capacity for fluff would be too small to actually run any length of time.

We have a domestic short-hair cat and a yorkie/scottie terrier mix.  So far it seems to do a good job picking up the animal fur, and I do empty it after every cleaning cycle. This will not replace the Dyson animal, but it is going to be good to maintain a basic level of clean.

I am also cancelling the midnight run time since the noise kept the animals and the wife awake.  I am now running it every day at 0900.  When we are at work and the animals are crated for the work day, it won't disturb anyone at that time.

I am hoping that the cat will start to ride on it, as per the thousands of similar YouTube videos.

People who have Leonbergers have reported spectacular failures with the robovacs. The fur load is simply too much. One person said that during the spring shed the vac would literally run for less than 5 minutes before it shut down due to fur clogging.

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

LOL...

My house would have to be clean enough at any given time for it to do it's thing and "clean".
I promise not to duck.

"so I ended up getting the above because I didn't want to make a whole production of sticking something between my knees and cranking. To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

That is why robovac is retired.  Two dogs and a 10 year old - too much debris on the floor.  I had to rescue the vac every day.

^^^I am now running the daily cycle at 0500 when we get up on the workdays.  We have discovered it periodically gets stuck or wedged somewhere and we have to pry it out of whatever awkward-to-get-down-and-reach space.

Now, if they just made an all-terrain robovac...
