First it was Dennis Hof, a local businessman who ran a brothel or three and was elected to the Nevada legislature kicked the bucket. Then Art Bell decided to make the celestial transfer.
Now our local bird girl, Heidi Fleiss, is moving from Nevada to Missouri. She has been running a bird (Macaw) sanctuary for quite a while out on the north end of town but lost a few birds a while back when someone's pet bobcat got into her house and just recently someone shot one of them with a pellet gun. She has had enough although I think the death of Dennis Hof had something to do with it, they were a couple for a while.
Any how, at this rate soon we will be out of celebs, maybe we can talk a washed up singer or two trying to live in the 60s to move out here from Vegas, ;)

Not the sort of exotic birds I was expecting. And didn't know there was a Little House museum in Missouri. Seems like more of a Minnesota thing.

Do you still have a shyster chiropractor running a gun club there?

Aren't Rock Island guns imported through Pahrump, as well?

Are they? I had no idea they were imported. From where?

Yes, the company Armscor is located here. Any service on their guns is done here. IIRC they have an ammo plant in Montana.

The gun club is here but I think the shyster lives elsewhere. He can't be bothered hob-nobbing with the riff-raff here.

The home office is in the Philippines.

My LGS, Stockpile Defense, which is actually not real local as they're in Boise, started out in Pahrump. I guess they still do a good bit of mailorder to their old customers down there.

But aren't all the Rock Island Armory products built in the Philippines and imported by Armscor? I thought the much lower labor costs in the Philippines were the reason that RIA products are relatively inexpensive.

I believe they are building a few here now, or at least that was the plan a few years ago. I believe the majority are still built in the Philippines.

From this article published last week, I see that Armscor is now also importing Alfa Czech revolvers under the RIA name. The .357 snubnose has a MSRP of $ 749, so I wonder what the street price will be.
