RIP David Warner

A prolific career spanning decades, countries, and pretty much every possible genre.

My generation will probably best remember him as Sark in Tron, and as the delightfully twisted Evil Genius in Time Bandits.

He had several roles on various Star Trek productions as well but Tron and Time Bandits are the first things I remember him from.
I always enjoyed his performances.

My favorite role of his was as Bob Cratchit in the 1984 made-for-TV version of A Christmas Carol, which starred George C. Scott as Scrooge.

He was also quite excellent in Cross of Iron.

I'd forgotten that one. It's my favorite TV rendition of the story.

Yep, Scott absolutely nailed Scrooge.

I first read A Christmas Carol when I was in high school, after I had seen a couple of the older movies. None of those actors were Scrooge.

I finally saw the Scott version in the early 1990s. Bam. Scrooge.

Alaistair Sim? Reginald Owen?

Nope. Not Scrooge.

Albert Finney in the musical? Closer...

I knew I had seen him in old Trek movies.  He was Klingon Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI.

He was also one of the Federation ambassadors on the planet where Star Trek V got started.  I think that is where I was remembering him from.
