Meet the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1v7TibfZyw)
For all of the awesomeness of this expressway it's not the one that passes through a building. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gate_Tower_Building) That's the Hanshin Expressway in Osaka.

I like engineering projects that can go from concept to completion in my garage. Preferably without moving more than one of the 2 automobiles.

So mingineering then?

I gotta tell ya, the Japanese culture and work ethic fascinates me. It started from, of all things, watching anime! That led me to want me to know about Japan IRL so that led to the YouTube wormhole and several Japanese/American vlogs and I learned a heck of a lot and discovered what was real and anime BS. I'm no weeaboo by ANY means though I am probably a sukoshi otaku.

I got into studying the "insider " culture and corruption. It's pretty involved

I noticed that there are a lot of hinkyness in their politics and business and also some strange working and education practices/hours and drinking/partying practices. Some serious people! HIGH suicide rates from the pressure over there.

Who loves huge engineering projects?
Depends on who's paying for it...

That "expressway" has speed limits of 40-60 KPH. Call it 35 MPH. But their trains go 200 MPH. I guess the engineering magic is just in getting the cars moved to the correct location in a crowded area.
