I also get irritated with Linux fans because I have no idea what they're talking about.

Don't feel too bad, most of them really don't know what they are talking about either.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Hey!  I resemble that remark!

I lurvs my linux and I have 2 computers at home running Ubuntu 10.10 (a netbook and a tri-core AMD w/ 8GB RAM).  One of the things that KILLED me about linux that seems to have faded away in the last couple years is the vast amount of duplicated work in the Open Source community.  Someone will write a tool to do *something* and turn it into an RPM/DEB package and sourceforge page.  And 8 other people will do something similar.  Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE, Debian and the other distros will switch tools they ship on various releases and the means of administering the server will change with each release.  Very frustrating.

Yeah, I hate it when that happens.  ???

Especially when there's several packages that all do the same thing, then one gets discontinued (the one I liked) in favor of a different one I haven't heard of before.

To each their own.

I like linux, although it does have a pretty steep learning curve.  It's gotten better in the past 5 years, but it's still there.

I'm at the point where all of my computer systems run linux.  For me, it offers the best value for the price (free!)  =)

Wait...what?  Some people write an actual package before creating a vaporforge page?

The nice thing about open source is that I can usually go dig up the old source and compile it myself if a package I really like disappears from the distro I'm using.
