Title: Thread Drift
Post by: ConstitutionCowboy on April 13, 2020, 03:01:15 PM
Something to think about:

What is "Thread Drift?" Thread drift is the best indicator of how everything in nature, society, and life in general is connected and interdependent. A virus escapes from China and the world economy gets shut down. The shutdown of the economy creates long lines of hungry people at food banks because they cant afford to go to a grocery store. The long lines enhance the spread of the virus. Grocery stores are running out of food to sell because the shutdown of the economy has closed businesses that supply the grocery stores. People go nuts and hoard things like toilet paper.

Governments pay out 'stimulus' money to help bolster the economy. All this does is put too much money out there to buy too few products and you get hyper inflation. (NOTE: Those 'stimulus' checks are just an opportunity to spread the wealth - one of best tools the left has to install socialism.)

"Thread Drift" helps you put two and two together and opens your eyes to what is truly going on in the world. Just as form follows function, actions follow cause. Means predict the ends.

So, you start out discussing viruses. That inspires someone to mention something about ebola in Africa. Someone else remembers the Elan they took on an African safari 20 years ago. That inspires someone else to remember the girl he dated twenty years ago. As for me, I never had much fun whenever I dated back then. I was more interested in cars. Except for the Edsel, of course. Speakin' of a course, anyone taken a Spanish course lately? Eh ... Yeah.

Remember that Edsel that ran into a moose?  What caliber is good for moose?  Would 44 Mag work okay?

Speaking of thread drifts,

Is anyone getting more of their honey-do lists done?  I'm not.  Stay at home orders + reduced work hours + home schooling = not doing much of anything else.

What kind of van are you looking for? I suggest one with "If this van's a rockin', don't come a knockin' " painted on the side.

I'm getting exactly the same amount I always did... we were homeschooling already, so the only difference is I am in a "no go" area of the house for the children, but they get to see me more often during work hours.

I am enjoying the Fender app that was offered for 3 free months during the lockdown. I'm almost through one of the 5 tracks already. (I'm not a beginner guitar player, but I am not great either.)

Anyone else increasing their skill set this enforced home-stay?

Needs a bitchin' wizard painted on it to be legit.

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours

Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left, gone was the glow of

Blue velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears

She wore blue velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears (Blue velvet)

A van can work pretty good on møøse, but the van usually doesn't survive either.

I sort of am.  I'm avoiding big new-development tasks that will require materials I don't have, but am getting a lot of cleaning, organizing and maintenance done.

I've got a list for it.  30 days, and each day has a task which should ideally take less then an hour or two.

Yes, already blew through my remodeling/fix it budget for the spring. Amazing what gets done when you got idle hands and power tools.

I have called them damn llamas since the mid 90's. We took my my wife's grandfather down to Springfield,MO for a Cottonbailer reunion. Went to a drive through animal park and the llamas beat the crap out of the doors.

Good thing about that trip was in the hotel bar. Two guys driving down the road saw the sign about the reunion and stopped in. They hadn't seen each other since Vietnam .

Amsterdam is one of those "check it off your list" things for twentysomething guys.

I was through there for a day and a night while backpacking through Europe. I remember I met some Canadian guy on the train who was also traveling solo, so we teamed up. Went to the Space Cake place, and ate brownies that tasted like chocolate covered hay. Looked, but didn't partake, in very rough looking hookers in windows. The hostels were all full, but we found some old lady selling room in her attic. Up a ladder to a room with like a dozen beds and a 6' ceiling, across the street from a gay biker bar. I recall sleeping with my Buck 110 under my pillow.

I had much better luck with girls in Denmark, Sweden, and Spain. Comically, all American girls.

Boy, this has been a fast snow melt.  Six inches and 20-ish °F at bedtime last night, but as of about 3 PM, 50°F and almost all gone except in shady spots.  Melting ice in rain gutter downspouts constantly making noise as ice falls through them.

Surely, based on these temperature samples, it should be 195°F by next Wednesday.

I haven't had the TV on all day, but I wonder if there are any flash flood warnings.
