I think this is fantastic.

Maine overwhelmingly rejected federal requirements for national identification cards on Thursday, marking the first formal state opposition to controversial legislation scheduled to go in effect for Americans next year.

Awesome!

Optimistic view of the future: Other states will follow suite, and the states collectively will tell the Feds to stuff this national ID crap right back into whatever part of their rectum they got it from, setting a precedent for other potential Federal shenanigans.

More likely view of the future: The Feds will strongarm any opposition into submission and force national ID against the express demands of the states, and all get re-elected for their "courageous measures in the face of terrorism."

The Confederates among us should be very glad.  We can have another secession movement.   cheesy

It worked out so well last time, who wouldn't want to do it again?

Sounds good.

Yep.

Though, of course, it probably won't last long like Twycross said.

Its great, however, the Feds will probably just threaten to withhold highway funding or some such rot as they did with the double nickel speed limit.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
