El Gobernador del Ill-i-noise, Pat Quinn, also to do minimum wage diet publicity stunt.
In thy presence is fulness of joy.
At thy right hand pleasures for evermore.

We lived most of one summer off of food literally salvaged from the dump.  It seems that farmers can't sell oversize or mis-shaped potatoes and onions so they haul them in dump truck loads to the brush pile (not the garbage pit  ;) ).

That and ~$10 for a 50lb sack of fresh dried pinto beans directly from a farm.
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

^^^ I knew a guy who got rich with a business selling 'second pick' fruit to food processors.  It was ugly fruit that did not make the grade to be sold to supermarkets.  His primary client was Sara Lee, who buys tons and tons of 'second pick' Washington apples for their frozen apple pies.
