Dem majority in the House is now 7 - 218 to 211.
Hastings was a Federal judge in the 1980s who was impeached and removed from office for some pretty significant charges. No surprise which party embraced him...

Were it not for white supremacism, he would have lived longer.

And nothing of value was lost.

Wonder what he had on Hilary?

Hastings was impeached, convicted, and removed from office, but that did NOT keep him from later holding elective office.
So . . . why were they saying impeachment would prohibit Trump from running again?
(Oh - Hastings was a Democrat. Never mind.)

Current legal thinking seems to be that presidents, vice presidents, and judges can get impeached. But because congress does the impeachment, congress critters don't get impeached. They get expelled by a two thirds vote. Unlike the office of president (or at least orange ones) apparently congress thinks it would be infringing on the the citizens right to vote for any candidate they want, so they don't bar expelled members from office.

Really, he was a nice guy, he was just turning his life around.

I'm sure our US Rep (more likely her social media girl) will chime on the Book of Faces in about what a wonderful peach of a person he was.

I just realized how wrong I was. He was impeached as a judge, not expelled from congress. So I guess that prohibition against seeking office again does only apply to certain people. Their hypocrisy is undeniable, but I wonder if they are blind to it or just don't care?

A term usually reserved for people getting killed while trying to steal money for drugs or attacking police

Hypocrisy is just reality when your trade is lies.
