s&w 38 special ctg 6" barrel question

 Hi just found you list and was hoping someone could help me
just inherited an old S&W 38 special CTG 6 inch barrel
I was hoping someone could tell me a little more about this gun
like when it was made I calling S&W and they told me the serial number
would date it prior to 1950 and had no owner manual on it the said it was a pre model 14
the serial number on butt and belly K  92740
the number by cylender D40825
any help I would apprieciate thanks

1950 serial numbers in this range were K84150-K104047. It was probably produced as the "K-38 Target Masterpiece."

Production of this model began in 1947 and continued through 1957, at which point it was continued as the "Model 14." It should have a Patridge front sight and micrometer click rear sight.
