One year sobriety today!
« on: April 14, 2005, 03:49:09 PM »
Last year on this day I was getting a sandwich, a sprite, and a bottle of jack daniels to eat drink with my buddies on the beach...

Got  caught stealing the bottle of booze and got sober.

One year today!!!

I'm pumped man.

How many sober people do we have on APS?

I don't think this really counts, but I've been sober for 18 years and 5 months now...

Winston,

Congratulations!!

It keeps getting better.

I took my last drink on March 27, 1984.

Where did the last 21 yrs ago?  I was sober and they just flew by... maybe I'm just getting old, at least now I can blame age for forgetting stuff. LOL

Congratulations on your sobriety.  I know it wasn't a cakewalk, and I hope your family realizes how proud they should be.

Not even old enough to legally buy a gun or liquor -  and a recovering alcoholic. GAWD! What has happened to this country?

Winston, good job! It is not only good for your health, life, image and for the people around you, but it is also a will exercise. Great entry in your achievements' list. Smiley

Mbs357 I am like you (just that I am 19) and proud of myself. Smiley It might be hard with the peer pressure and I am glad I have smart friends.

Good for you.  I'm not one for getting drunk, but don't have a problem with having a drink every once in a while.  However for those with no self-control they should not have that one drink.  Good job.  Keep making the smart choice and like Anna G. said make a good choice on your friends too.  They'll help you.

So while I may have a drink now and then I've never been drunk.

It is amazing to see the transformation of someone controlled by a substance to someone in control of themselves.

Congratulations.  While I have no substance abuse problems (other than the substance that keeps accumulating around my waistline) I've had to deal with people who do, up close and personal.  I know it's not easy.  Keep up the good work.

Oops, didn't see this at first.  Yea it's hard when you've got friends constantly pushing you...luckily I have no friends. grin
But I do have people bugging me to drink with them...family!  And my MOM of all people! >_<
By the way, I'm starting to think that the message I quoted above wasn't directed at me, if so, ignore it.
