LONDON (Reuters) - A British woman has been ordered by police to take down a sign on her garden gate which read "Our dogs are fed on Jehovah's Witnesses."

Janet Grove, who owns a terrier puppy called Rabbit, insisted the sign was a gentle joke to discourage callers at her front door.

Her late husband put the sign up more than 30 years ago when members of the church called at their house on Christmas Day.

But police were forced to act after receiving a complaint.

"We were informed by a member of the public who found the sign to be distressing, offensive and inappropriate," a police spokesman said. "Officers attended the address and the sign was voluntarily taken down."

Anyway, the incident happened in Britain where no lunacy is too great.  People were offended.  Big furry deal.

Are these the same thing, or does the door-to-door proselytizing element have to be there?  I don't want to be home when the third groups come a-callin', though.  Could be unsettling.  I'd prefer a visit from the Apathetic Agnostic Society.  Why don't they ever come to my neighborhood?

A person can be an ignorant jerk and proclaim it to the world.  But that isnt a criminal offense.

With my luck, I would open the door to this guy

Softball stuff, fruser.  The last few buddhists I ran into were...much less easy on the eyes.  But I don't wish to pick on Buddhists - it's just that it so conveniently rhymes with nudist.  

I asked the Apathetic Agnostics when they would be calling in my neighborhood - they said nobody knows and they don't care to find out.
