Well, WBCers are commies, too?  I suppose that might cause them to garner Strange New Respect from certain corners.

Nah, just your average garden variety inbred morons.

So, Windows fanboys?

Great post on Jobs, teh world he made, and the world gov't made:

I don’t know what Steve Jobs’s politics were, I don’t much care, and in any case they are beside the point. The late Mr. Jobs stood for something considerably better than politics. He stood for the model of the world that works...

Once you figure out why your cell phone gets better and cheaper every year but your public schools get more expensive and less effective, you can apply that model to answer a great many questions about public policy. Not all of them, but a great many.

WBC is already planning to protest the funeral

In the first step to resigning that lot to well deserved irrelevancy, I say this: I don't care.

No. They thought that buying Apple computers would prevent them from downloading homosexual porn, but it didn't work out.

Steve Jobs was great at what he did. There's no need to further fellate the man's memory. He made good computers, he made good phones, he made good music players. He sold them well. He got obscenely rich. He enabled an entire generation of techie design fetishists to walk around with more attractive gadgets. He did not meaningfully reduce poverty, or make life-saving scientific discoveries, or end wars or heal the sick or befriend the friendless. Which is fine—most of us don't. But most of us don't provoke such cult-like lachrymosity when we pass on. When even the journalists tasked with covering you and your company are reduced to pie-eyed fans apologizing for discomforting your insanely powerful multibillion-dollar corporation in some minor way, some perspective has been lost.

In regards to a WBC funeral protest, I actually think they are more likely to run into violence there (I know that is what they are aiming for) than they are at the military funerals they often protest at.

There are a lot of Apple fans out there that take things very seriously.

More importantly, there are a lot of Apple fans with no seizable assets whatsoever because they've wasted every penny they ever got their hands on on the latest iCrap.  Combine that with my general lack of sympathy for that type, and you get the perfect "useful idiots" to throw at WBC.

Actually, the only genuine commie I know (some of you may recall her from fb a while back) has been bombarding the internetz with rants against Jobs, for being a soulless bastard whose employees committed suicide to escape the horrifying conditions.

I don't entirely buy it.

But then I don't use Apple products because they're somehow more sacred in the hippie/hipster worldview.  I use 'em because they make my life easier.  My life is hard enough already; I'll gladly take advantage of products that will help make it easier.

TNT is playing the movie right now.

As for the asshats to the west of me, I'm thinking we just need something with a very good guidance system and that problem would disappear.

Without responding to the obvious jackassery contained in that statement, why exactly would I want to buy an Android?

It's great if you want a phone that can do true multi-tasking with background processes free to perform like they would on a modern PC operating system.  Or if you want the ability to load in custom non-approved apps.  It's very open about that stuff, which can be handy if you want to write custom apps for your business to support your needs.

I'm a fan.

Then again, every time I play with an iOS device I turn a bit green with envy.  Suckers just work better for your regular tasks.

Steve Jobs life never flashed before his eyes... It's not a supported app!
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

So...no buying patchouli oil by the gallon on Android?

FTR, I loves me my Android and I do worry about integrating Google too far into my life.  Then, I realize I rooted my phone and made it my bitch.

I'm not sure that joking and mocking are exactly the same thing.  Or joking and insulting, albeit in a non-literal manner.
