. . .  I suddenly discovered, which I should have known in the first place, that the ground, which was located on the slopes around  the "Table Mountain National Radio Observatory" was in a radio quiet zone.  So much for my ham radio activities.  I was planning on a "full gallon" (1 kiloWatt) station.>..

Table Mountain? You had a potential homestead on the slopes around Table Mountain? Scenic area, but I didn't realize you lived around Cape Town.

Oh, there are Table Mountains and Mesas all over the planet.  Besides the Observatory, Boulder has a Table Mesa subdivision and here near Golden, there's another Table Mountain.

It's like Bald Mountain.  I think Colorado has two of them, one fer sure above Nederland CO.   Place names don't have to make sense.  Nederland means Low Land, yet it's at over 8000 feet elevation.

And as far as I know, nobody's growing any wheat on any ridge in nearby Wheat Ridge Colorado.

According to Wiki, "There are 22 places called Denver in the world."

And Broomfield Colorado is a complete mystery.  Far as I know, nobody's growing brooms in any farm fields here roundabouts.

And 230RN is a pretty common name, google it.  My nickname is Two.

I have a little refrigerator magnet thingie that says "I love Intercourse    PA."

Amusing because somehow the connotative meaning of intercourse became its major usage.

Right now, I'm having intercourse with everybody here.  (Yuch on what you're thinking.)

I live less than 2 hours away from Egypt.... TX.

A friend used to joke that you could name just about any major city in the world and there would be a town in Texas with that name.

I had someone post a map the other day of the Texas summer vacation that included Egypt and Paris and several others.

The Egypt, TX I have seen is nothing but a crossroads.  It is not far from Wharton, TX.  I think it has a post office, but I am not certain.  Paris, TX is a good long way away up near the Oklahoma border East of Dallas.  I guess you could make a lot of stops in between.  Do a Buc-ee's tour.

Another thing, basement or some other tornado protection.  Buildings like that don't stand up to tornados well.

I had a wealthy client back in the day who had a super wealthy buddy.  My client took me for a couple beers to meet his friend and see his place.  From the outside in front it appeared to be an image of all of the smaller brick manufacturing/commercial buildings and warehouses in his location adjacent to our large airport.  When you walked in the front door there was a large pool/snooker/ billiard room.  To the left one went into his 3 bedroom, 3 bath elaborate living space containing all the amenities.  To the left of the billiard room, you entered a huge garage that had quite a number of very expensive cars, new and antique, motorcycles, boats (one runabout go-faster painted to match the trailer and truck to pull it) and a very large custom motor home with tile floors, leather furniture etc etc etc.  In the back corner of the garage was an entire bar with all the furniture and accouterments from a bar he bought in Texas, and tore down and moved all he insides here to Michigan and put back together.  A large overhead door allowed access/egress for his toys.  Another large overhead opened up to a very large, 10' tall walled Japanese garden complete with pool and fountains and waterfalls.  It was an enjoyable couple beers and the friend was a very personable fellow.

Correct - in reply #7 I alluded to something that would work for that.

A friend of mine built a home in Amarillo after he retired. He had a "safe room" built, primarily for tornado protection. Anchored deep, 6 inch reinforced concrete walls and ceiling. Should stand up to any tornado. (If an F5 tornado picks up and drops a tanker truck full of gasoline on him, maybe not.)

Then there is the river town near the junction of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers called Cairo, IL.
And let's remember French Lick, IN.

"Cairo, IL."

I've been to Cairo a number of times. A very sleepy backwater these days, but for some reason that town speaks to me.

Southern Illinois, including Cairo and Carbondale, is known as Little Egypt.

Yup.  That's why there is a lake called "Lake of Egypt" south of Marion.
Pound's Hollow, Garden of the Gods, Giant City, Devil's Kitchen Lake, Little Grassy Lake, Ferne Clyffe, so many of my old stomping grounds.
