""The incredible suckitude of white bread and plastic cheeselike product" comes across as more of a subjective edict and less of an opinion.

For those of us raised on certain foods (like white bread grilled cheese sandwiches), it sounds rather intolerant."

You don't think I wasn't?

The difference is my palate changed from what I was raised on as a kid to what I like now. If you still like it, that's fine.

You want to give me a ration of crap about scrapple, sauerbraten, ponhaus, or whatever? That's fine, too. I'm capable of recognizing it as being YOUR opinion, not some latent conspiracy to make me feel bad about the foods I was raised with.

This is a chat board on the internet. EVERYTHING comes with a de facto IMHO, whether it's stated up front or not.

IMHO, there's nothing better on a cold winter day than a grilled cheese sandwich made with Kraft Singles on white bread, with a bowl of tomato soup.

Substitute a can of Campbell's Vegetable (The Alphabet Soup ) and you are describing one of kiddo's favorite lunches ever since she was old enough to eat such things. I like that combo pretty well, myself.

I had never even heard of a fried bologna sandwich until I ended up living in Charleston, W.V. for some time. Now I don't really care for plain bologna (I much prefer salami, even cheap salami) but a couple of slices of bologna fried up with some onions and a squirt of mustard makes a darned good sandwich.

Do they deep fry it with batter or just pan fry.

I really like Kikkoman's teriyaki baste-and-glaze sauce.

I really like Kikkoman's teriyaki baste-and-glaze sauce.

I used that a lot for grilling back in the day.  Good stuff.

I like pan fried spam and cheese sandwiches.

As a matter of fact, I wonder if I have any spam in the cupboard, I may make one.

ESPECIALLY that statement.

But not that one.

Now that you've got me hungry, make three...  =D

If you ever feel a little "redneck", crush up some saltine crackers into crumbs and add black pepper.....make an egg & milk batter.....dip sliced SPAM in the batter and dredge in the cracker crumbs....then fry in a hot, well-oiled skillet...SPAM never tasted so good... =D

Sigh.

Spamless.

Another good one is take Hormel corned beef hash, fry it up, and then mix in an egg with it. Let it set, then transfer it to a couple of pieces of pan fried bread with a slice of cheese.

Crap. I'm drooling.

Kikkoman is OK to cook with. For applying to rice I use wheat free tamari from the local organic food store.  $$$ though.  But the flavor is way better than any of the mass marketed "branded" products.
