Didn't the Scorpion have nuclear-tipped torpedoes on board when she was lost in '68?

There is a small nuke on the bottom of the Pacific near Japan that may or may not be still be loaded on an A4 that fell off of a carrier.

Surely they won't call enlisted Airmen will they?

Spacemen?  Vacuumen?  Spacepersons?

Where were you ten years ago? :P

I was a Specialist and I thought Air Force ranks were dumb.

The rank system is far less important to me than what Spaceforce will actually be doing.

This is a new era, they can do away with rank structure and just go around calling each other by their first names...... oh wait...that's the Air Force. ;)

I suggest naval rank and rate. The Constitution limits the funding of armies - which would include the Air Force which is a derivative of the Army -  to no more than two years at a wack. The Navy on the other hand can be funded indefinitely. Such funding is likely to be necessary to maintain a space fleet like it is necessary to maintain a navy. To me, that makes a space force with its fleet most like a navy.

Space Force is already Dept. Of The Air Force.

Bonkers if you ask me.  Closest thing to being locked inside a space ship for months on end is being locked inside a submarine for months on end.  But nobody asked me.

Not really. New ones don't even have real optical periscopes any more.

I thought they were all just call "Sergeant".  (same with Colonel and General)

So is it acceptable to call anyone from E-5 to E-9 "Sergeant"?  (unless they are Navy ;)) Or should you be more specific?

So, if we get a space force, does that mean that trainees will all be space cadets?

Air Force E9 should be Chief although if said E9 has a stick up their bum they may insist on the whole rank. Army E9 should always be Sergeant Major.

Marine side we always went specific, unless it was Gunnery Sgt.  I never met one that minded just being called gunny (surname).
