Stupid Facebook memes
« on: July 26, 2015, 01:41:13 PM »
I've reached a point where I only visit Facebook once a day for a few minutes. I see so many stupid liberal memes my brain starts to turn to Jello. My obnoxious sister-in-law is responsible for most of them.

Here is an example. Do the people posting these really think that someone who's created the Microsoft OS, or came up with touch screens, or brought companies like Harley back from bankruptcy, or even invented Facebook, would be unable to make a pizza, tend to their gardens, or cook a meal?

You miss the point.

Unless a liberal tells you what to think or to do it does not count.  You were probably doing it wrong.  Without their guidance you will hurt yourself, probably hurt someone else - or at least that someone's feelings - and probably be responsible for the death of Mother Gia.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

Again, my definition of "poverty" does not include being able to afford cable/satellite TV, chrome rims/wheel spinners, hydraulic lifts on your car, iPhones, and a fridge full of junk food.

To me poverty, is having to walk 1+ mile to get water, then pounding out a handful USAID grain on a rock to bake your family's one and only meal for the day.

But then again, I'm a heartless conservative/libertarian....
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Oh, I harass her daily. So does her brother. We present her with facts and logic, but it does no good. I don't like her, so it's entertaining. Most of the time.

Honestly, I prefer the unfollow option.  The person has no idea, so you avoid any hassels.  Works well with family and coworkers.

I will sometimes select the option to not see posts from a particular site. So someone I know loves to share crap from salon or being liberal, now I no see it. The occasionally vicious William Wallace style posting on gun rights usually thins da herd too.

Because you aren't infected. Liberalism is a *expletive deleted*ing disease.

One of my sisters is infected. She is becoming more and more liberal every day. The problem is she has never known the real world. See, she went to college intending to be an architect, then wound up as a math major. Now she wants to teach school when she graduates.

Between all the modern parenting bullshit she reads (she decided to have two kids while in school) and her idiot college age friends who have also never known the real world, she is coming up with stupid *expletive deleted*it and posting it on her wall.

The latest one was "I believe we need to spend less money on murderers and criminals* and more money on education, because if they had a good education they wouldn't be doing these kinds of things!"

*I'm assuming she means less money on trials and prison time

I've been reading a lot of proposals for releasing criminals, the reason given being that crime is down. This ignores the fact that crime has come down in part because we've locked up more criminals. Let them out and you'll get more crime.

I know the argument about people doing time for a little bit of grass. Nobody does time for a little bit of grass. That was the plea bargain sentence. The real crime was something much more serious.

The logic follows the same "peace dividend" spending of the 1990's. Clinton and Congress cut defense spending because the Cold War was over. They never learn that the best defense is a good offense, a lesson history teaches again and again and again.

Sometimes I think the essence of liberalism is a notion that age-old laws don't apply to their new way of thinking, and their motives will result in new outcomes. The old economic law of "the more something costs, the less of it you get, and vice versa" is laughed at constantly by liberals, but the law has never been repealed and never will be. It's the same with keeping a bully  in check by being strong, an idea our betters in DC think is outdated.

There is nothing new under the sun.

Quote
AS I PASS through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "The Wages of Sin is Death."

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "If you don't work you die."

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

I read somewhere that yes, those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Unfortunately, those who DO know history are doomed to watch it repeat.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Of note, I find it extremely humorous ironic prophetic sadly unsurprising this line from that poem:

Quote
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

When read with this story in mind:

http://www.news.com.au/travel/world-travel/corruption-neglect-and-bureaucratic-bungling-has-led-to-demise-of-rome/story-e6frfqbr-1227449968543

Quote
IT’S regarded as the birthplace of Western civilisation, a city rich with culture and steeped in history.
But Rome, the Eternal City, is on the “verge of collapse”.
