D-Con makes a spring trap that is covered in a black plastic shell.  Keeps the dog from tripping the trap when she smells the peanut butter.  And, they keep the trap from teaching my young sons a painful lesson.

We have packrats here 

I've shot a few in sheds and over by the corral, but they are hard to get to sit still.

Right now we've got one in the crawl space under the addition.  Going to have to pull up some floorboards in the defunct hot tub room so the cats and chewawa can get after it.
