I read some of your replies and I wonder how you would feel if someone wrote about you that way.

I personally feel many here should move on from APS, myself included.  However, it appears to the casual observer that APS could indeed be the be-all, end-all of some's existence, almost like a Twitter/MySpace/Facebook thing.   =|

much like the losers on the road whom have no life but trying to hold up other drivers, they should be pitied

Hey, I resemble that remark!
Seriously, APS is fun. I do spend more time on here than I ought to though... =|

Irwin was a great moderator. He has style, if not class.  =D

Are you sure we didn't kill him off......APS has been known to do that to members from time to time.....I'm a survivor of one such attempt....

he was on today :O

I figure mike and I have known each other long enough he'll know I'm just yankin' his crank when I call him a sorry old pain in the ass. I'm pretty sure he's called me worse.

To answer the OP's question, Mike is still very much a member of APS.

I know that may trouble some, based on the undertones I sense in this thread, but there it is.

There were no undertones to be sensed in my post. Only a public admission that I occasionally (?) suffer from cognitive dissonance ...

I "moved on" back in January.  This is the second time that I've checked in since then.  Someone pointed out this thread to me.

I'm not sure whether I should stay "moved on" or drop in once in a while  =|

Please drop in. Be good to hear from Bogie too. The big positive of the THR dust-up was that when I changed my bookmark to .us Irwin was no longer banned. I learned a lot reading him in my early gun days on TFL and THR.
AKA Navy Joe

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

If this place is or can be a net positive in his life I hope he comes back.

If this place is a net negative affecting even his fleshworld existence then I hope he stays away.

I don't spend nearly as much time here as some and it is all I can do to refrain from letting my snarky side flag fly free. Having said that this is a one of the more civil and friendly places on the web I've hung out at so please don't be insulted.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I can understand the burnt out factor.  I hope that he is only taking a break and will be back with the batteries for his banswerk recharged and a fresh outlook on life and APS.  And heaven help us when he does... =D =D =D

Tallpine, Bogie, et al.  You are missed.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

APS is mental floss for a dirty mind

We should engrave that on a plaque for Mike
"The true mad scientist does not make public appearances! He does not wear the "Hello, my name is.." badge!
He strikes from below like a viper or on high like a penny dropped from the tallest building around!
He only has one purpose--Do bad things to good people! Mit science! What good is science if no one gets hurt?!"

If he returns, we can all push this:
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
