Not necessarily smarter, just older.

If you had lived through the early and mid-70s you would know what bad is.  We arent nearly there yet.  When Qiana shirts make a come-back then you can start panicking.

Every word and moan. I miss Hee Haw. And my grampa, with whom I watched it every evening.

There a still a few folks around from the show.  Lulu Roman still sings, making albums and the occasional personal performance.  She's still not a petite little thing, but severe health issues resulted in her pulling off a huge amount of weight over the last decade or so.

*added*  Did a little history check on HeeHaw and remembered all kinds of stuff that used to keep me in stitches as a kid.  The kick fence, the "Saaa-Lute", the Gossip Girls, etc.  But how, oh my how, could any red-blooded American boy forget Gunilla Hutton (Nurse Goodbody)!

I think I'll sing that tune in my best off-key southern drawl (which comes naturally) while leading the night ride tonight.  I'll either end up riding alone or I'll get a really good workout as I stive to stay ahead of the mass of bikers who want to kill me. Cheesy

Actually, "Where O Where are You Tonight?" was a different song and a different sketch. Same guys usually sang it though. Sometimes both songs get in my head at the same time, and I get all confused which is which.

It ties together.  Hee Haw was on in the early '70s and, as Rabbi points out, the economy was really in the toilet then.  We ain't that bad off yet.
