Escape from City 17 by the Purchase Brothers. Low budget film. For $500 it looks awesome. I'm speechless. Can't wait to see the second one.

If this doesn't result in a Hollywood version of Half-Life, nothing will.  Let's hope they don't foul it up (fingers crossed).

Who would make a good Gordon Freeman?  I'd say Gary Oldman but he's probably not young enough; Gordon Freeman could be played anywhere from 25 to 40 based on his education level.

Considering the budget they did a great job.

I can't wait for them to get some backing and produce a feature length film...though, playing HL2 is almost a cinematic experience in itself.

As for Gordon, my boss would fit the part very well...but he's not an actor, just a Network Admin.

I'd rather these guys do it than let Hollywierd touch it. They'd fark it up for sure.

I nominate myself.

If I had a Halloween party to go to, I was going to go as Gordon, I was going to take a crowbar, some spray painted hockey padding with a Greek Lambda painted on the shoulder, and my Airsoft P-90 and I'd be all set. Mrs. Dual was less thrilled when I suggested we stick a raw turkey on her like a helmet and that she could go as a "headcrab"...  =D

Seriously though, I'd say Edward Norton with glasses and a goatee would be spot-on.
I promise not to duck.

Valve, let these guys bring it to the screen.

Hollywood, stay out of the way. If Jerry Bruckheimer tries to get involved, hit him with a crowbar.

They used in game assets, such as the Striders (the big H.G Wells style Tripod thingy), the weapon sounds, the Combine Gunships, and all sorts. These were mixed in with footage of real locations, and then a whole load of special effects were used to morph it all together. It's pretty darn clever really, considering their tight budget.
They obviously have a real feel for the game, they must be big fans.

I'm willing to bet  the $500 doesn't even begin to cover labor expenses(donated), probably only covers buying a camera, maybe a software suite.

My thoughts exactly . . . maybe a few prop guns, the blanks they fired, squibs, and costumes.

Give it to Hollywood, and things like headcrabs will be the mutant products of global warming or something.

Very cool video. A couple of notes though. I'm pretty sure the gunshots are added digitally. Also the people who made the film are apparently directors of commercials so not sure what the 500 was spent on, but they probably already had a lot of the equipment needed.
"The people in the gun culture have a better safety record than any police department in the nation, but in
several states actually prohibit us from using guns for self-protection, and in all the other states except one
they make us buy a license. They tax us so we can have more cops, and when crime still goes up, they tax
us more and ban more of our guns."

HL2 is better than the first one...very well done.

You are fighting a totalitarian government, aliens, and zombies all at once. It's great!

The opening level will make your blood boil if you hate totalitarian governments as much as I do. Especially because you can't fight back in the opening level.
