Heh.  Thats about the only time you are likely to see most California counties represented in red.

Oddly enough, the map seems to correlate pretty closely to the infamous red/blue map.

Why in the F is CA so out of line with the rest of the country?  I paid $3.07/gallon and filled my truck for $74. Seriously make me a bit naseaus.

esheato, don't quote me on it, but I would guess we have the highest State and Local taxes tagged on, plus whatever State regulatory requirements that cause suppliers to add a few more cents per gallon to recoup costs.

It infuriates me, because I'm in one of the darkest red counties (Santa Barbara), and we have the world's second largest natural oil seep (Coal Oil Point) spewing tens of thousands of gallons of oil, and hundreds of millions of cubic meters of natural gas per year, just a half mile off our coast. Can't touch it though. Oil companies collecting it and reducing seepage = bad. Idiots.

Might have something to do with the formulation of their "boutique" gasoline. Don't they have to have a certain formulation, different from the rest of the country, to sell in CA?

Stickjockey, it is my understanding that there are dozens of different blends for different parts of the country, CA isn't the only special one.
