Title: Aid and Comfort?!
Post by: Guest on February 09, 2006, 10:53:37 AM
When I see people denouncing anyone remotely critical of the administration or military as giving 'aid and comfort' to the enemy, or comparing them to Jane Fonda, it bothers me.

Am I alone here?

It would depend upon the situation. I couldn't agree to a blanket statement like you seem(IMO) to be making.

No. It bothers me.

It also bothers me that anyone remotely supportive of the administration is denounced as a blind, kool-aid drinking, idiot.

Yes, it bothers me. It also bothers me when people do what middy described.
In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if this is part of the problem of division in this country. If you support the administration, you're immediately denounced by those who are dissatisfied with it. If you criticize it, you labeled a traitor. So, what's the average person, the one who likes part of the administration's actions and not others, supposed to do? He's just embittered to politics in general, but wants to do and believe something, so he just joins the side he's most closely aligned with. Of course, then the entire vicious cycle just begins again.
