McMahon, who was the ATF's deputy director of operations in the West, where the illegal trafficking program was focused, and William D. Newell and David Voth, both field supervisors who oversaw the program out of the agency's Phoenix office.

I guess this was to be expected. 

Lets hope they are compartmentalized to the point that their compartment can be jettisoned at a later date.

I'm wondering if they're getting promoted to make them into "big fish" suitably high up enough in the org-chart at the BATFE to then take the fall and prevent even higher folks from going down.

On Fox's The Fives last night Bob Beckel said the agents in question had good over all records and had earned their promotions. He then made one of his patented snide comments about how it was all our fault because we have such lax gun laws anybody can get a gun.
