I had to reset my cable modem and wireless router this morning; they were working fine late last night. I wonder if this had anything todo with it?
Doubtful.
The only thing that would have been effected at ground level was the power grid, mainly on the east coast of the U.S. and Canada. And the power co's had plenty of warning to safe the lines, set breakers etc.
A surge would largely have been absorbed by the router and modem's wall-wart DC transformers. A dip might do it, but generally below the operating threshold is the same as "off", so that would have reset them anyway.
