I thought I had wiped out an entire cemetary's worth of them. All careful .22lr head shots, to destroy the bacteria controlled remnants of brain etc.

Then it turns out they were just all in Amway.

The Police Department gave me a medal anyway though.

So the solar flare was just as disasterous as the Y2K bug.

I expect the Mayan Apocalypse of 2012 to be just as bad, so we'd all best prepare.

Did the hams and CBers notice an increase in e-layer skip? Back when I was into radios I could talk to places like Hawaii or Australia on my trucks CB.

I think the brunt of that disruption from Tuesday wound up over China and parts of Asia. Although I don't know if it was specifically the ionosphere changes that they mentioned. Just "communication disruptions".

You can do that with any CB if you feed it through a 1500 watt amp.

Biggest amp I had was a 200 watt and co-phased antennas on my pickup. Never ran a base station.

AM is more sensitive to interference because it is the amplitude of the wave that carries the modulation and that's what gets "chopped" by interference.

"Range Control, this is Area Juliet/Whiskey, reporting all training activities have ceased for the night." (Germany had Quiet Hours Laws that had to be abided by and you had cease any noisy activities and call in to report that you were now going to STFU.)

"Last calling, we ain't got no area Juliet/Whiskey."

Me getting pissed: "Range Control, YOU KNOW THE TWO BIG FREAKIN' TRAINING AREAS SOUTH OF THE SOUTH TANK TRAIL, OVER"

"We don't have a South Tank Trail, over"

Me, pissed and confuddled: "WHO ARE YOU, over?"

"Toole Army Depot*, where are you?"

"No *expletive deleted*, I'm in Baumholder, Germany, over."

We talked for about a minute and then I got interrupted by Baumholder (US) Range Control wanting to know who I had been talking to on the restricted range control freq.
