Title: Two years ago today...
Post by: K Frame on January 21, 2022, 05:48:18 PM
The first confirmed case of COVID 19 in the United States.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/21/omicron-two-years-since-covid-was-first-confirmed-in-us-the-pandemic-is-worse-than-anyone-imagined.html

I saw the first reports coming out of China about a new virus strain a couple of weeks before this happened. They weren't sounding the alarm yet, but I had a nasty gut feeling that this one was going to be different and I started laying in extra food supplies immediately.

Can't believe we've been living through this for two years with no real end in sight.

Actually it's way nastier than the CCP told us, since they told us it was nothing.

Was that before, or after, they released photos of people getting scraped off the streets while apartment buildings were getting welded up?

Two weeks to flatten the curve!

A quick google search will show you it was before, and as I recall, the imagery of buildings being welded up was from non-CCP sources.

Everyone still bought it tho...

We all shoulda gone to the New Year celebration in Chinatown... And not gone to see gramma in the home afterward.

December 2019, I had a nasty case of crud.

December 2020, had a week and a half of 102 fever.

December 2021... had a cold. January 2021, had another cold.

Maybe if I freak out enough, I'll... have a cold?

Watch the people selling you the stats...

I wonder - the first major cluster was a nursing home. Buncha patients died. None of the help. And the help was also working at other facilities. None of them died.

I wonder... Was this bug largely nosocomially transmitted across the country? Because specialists, including nursing specialists, often work in multiple facilities.

Gotta admit, at this point, I'm unsure of what to believe about COVID.  I now personally know several healthy people, including a cousin in pretty good health, who died from respiratory/cardiac issues after a COVID diagnosis (the was prior to the vaccines being available).  Then again, my wife and I both tested positive after our trip to the Cotton Bowl.  She had sore throat, low fever, and fatigue. I had no symptoms. We both had three doses of Pfizer vaccine.  Is COVID mutating to less serious (omicron) versions?  Did the vaccine keep us from bad illness?  I just don't know.

According to stuff like the cruise ships... Most people, MOST PEOPLE, don't get sick, or don't get sick enough to matter.

The initial numbers that the media was reporting were only the cases where the patients were sick enough to go seek medical help. Prior to this hysteria, did  you go to your doctor over a cold? Or did you stay home, swill nyquil for a bit, and then go back to doing life?

But by golly, the hysteria triumphed...
