Honda will no longer sell gas lawnmowers in the US beginning this September. I can only image other small Honda engines will not be far behind.
While it seems electric lawnmowers are probably able to handle the average Suburban subdivision lawn, I'm wondering what will happen to other small gas engine applications if Honda and other manufacturers stop making the small gas engines. For instance, for myself, I have a log splitter and a small Honda engine on my irrigation wheel line motor. I'm not sure how a battery operated engine would work on either of those.
I bought a small electric (AC) log splitter to use when I was making my mind up about what big log splitter to get. It worked okay for small, dry stuff, but I often ended up using a maul on bigger stuff. Also, on an application like a wheel line, some of these are far from civilization, let alone an AC outlet to charge a battery. Farmers will probably not be happy.

Getting a 30 ton electric splitter must require rewiring to the extent you would go for an electric car charger. It must require a pretty big ass battery to go portable on an electric splitter.
