Made the 8.5hr drive to WI for the SAE Baja race. I went as a volunteer this year. Chicago + rush hour + construction + dually with a long trailer = pain in the neck. Anyway, Wednesday night I helped my alma mater get their car ready for the weekend. Thursday I worked as a tech inspector. There is about a 6 page list of requirements every car must meet... roll cage specs, safety equipment, etc. There were about 115 teams at the event. Friday was the start of the dynamic events... mud bog, chain pull, maneuverability course, and acceleration. I worked the practice track making sure everyone had their safety gear on and their harnesses tight, and subsequently towed some cars that broke on the track in the utility vehicle I brought from work. They then opened up the full endurance track for practice runs and I was stationed at the log field pushing cars off that got stuck. Saturday was the four hour endurance race. I spent most of the day clearing broken cars off thet rack and then towing them to the pits and then cleared fence posts and cones off the track after the race. It was a pretty sweet time. When I got back today the gates to our facility were locked up and I couldn't get my car out so I'm keeping the truck for the rest of the weekend lol. All the pics:
