Invasion of Canadian Feral ‘Super Pigs’

Get Ready for the Invasion of Canadian Feral ‘Super Pigs’
https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/get-ready-for-the-invasion-of-canadian-feral-super-pigs/

Quote
The U.S. may soon have a new wild pig problem. Until now, the invasive species has largely proliferated in warm places like the southeast, Texas, and California. But in recent years, invasive pigs have started thriving in Canada and may spread into North Dakota, Montana, Michigan, and Minnesota.

Quote
Many farmers and ranchers soon crossbred the wild boars with domestic pigs. According to Brook, the hybridization resulted in bigger “super pigs” that could survive in cold climates. “For surviving in cold winters, one of the rules of ecology is: the bigger the better,” he says. “Larger body animals survive the cold better and have better reproduction in those conditions.”
------------
In the early 2000s, the market for farmed boars dropped out in Canada. Some escaped from their enclosures and others were let free without anyone to sell them to. In less than 20 years, the wild—or feral—population exploded, in part due to the species’ extraordinarily high reproductive rate. Wild boars now roam approximately 620,000 square miles in Canada, primarily in the Prairie Provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.

Hope everyone up in the Northwest has some fun with this.  New meat animal to hunt may be coming soon.  I hope they expand heavily into Eastern Washington with all the leftists.

The problem is there aren't a lot of leftists in Eastern WA. It is pretty red over there except for a bit of Spokane and down around Pullman. The rest are pretty conservative. Hopefully they come through Montana (East of the Rockies) that will keep them out of Western MT, ID and eastern WA for a while.

Sounds like the pigs are starting the invasion farther East:

When I lived in Browning, MT I would go set up near the border with Canada and call coyotes across the border. When they came across and did not have a Visa I would serve them a 55gr V-Max cease and desist order from a 220 Swift. Good times. I would do the same with these things but may up the caliber a bit.

What better time would there be then now to have thousands of acres of cropland destroyed up in that area?

Years ago I remember Skeeter Skelton describing hog hunting in California and I suggested to the Colorado DOW to import them into Colorado for an additional hunting opportunity.  They didn't.

Little did I realize what a threat they were to farming and ranching and everything in general.  Last I heard, they were establishing themselves into the center of the eastern border of Colorado. I'm not up to the latest info on that.

Upshot?  Not a good idea to welcome them anywhere.

I hear places like NY, San Fran, Cape Cod, Portland, etc.. will welcome them.

Those places will declare themselves feral super pig sanctuaries but don't actually want any feral super pigs to take sanctuary there. And, they will call anyone that wants to send feral super pigs to their self proclaimed feral super pig sanctuary as racist.

This.  If there anything like the feral hogs we get here in FL, they are pretty damn aggressive.  They will tear up *expletive deleted*it, destroy a bunch of plants, and when they meet people it's 50/50 if they run off or bow up on you.  One of these days I'm going to have to make a pistol shot past one of my dogs loosing their *expletive deleted*it on a leash, and won't that be fun.

Couple of years ago a hunter not terribly far from where I live almost lost his life due to a wild boar tearing up his thigh. Fortunatly one of his buddies was close by and used his belt as a tourniquet.

No, not a good idea.

(A) Not target-specific.  There are many right-minded folks in those areas who did not vote for Brandon.

(B) Few predators to check thier numbers.

(C) They will spread to other areas oncologically.

We're overrun with the damn things down here. Not so much in the High Plains areas, but down in ranch country, they're like hooved rats. Swarms of them. Fences mean nothing and they'll root up fields in a matter of days. Lord forbid you hit one with a vehicle. Being so short and heavy, they'll rake the suspension clean out from under pretty much anything smaller than a D8 Cat. Aggressive a hell, too.

Yeah, it isn't a matter of whether they are welcomed or encouraged.  If cold weather is not a barrier to them (since they are up in Canada already) then they will spread to the entire US.  The areas with harsh gun restrictions or self defense restrictions are going to have safety problems.

I have met at least one hunter who shot them for meat as he could hunt them all year long and could get more meat from some of them than the deer we have down here.

Meat from younger, smaller sows is actually pretty good. The older and larger they get, the more gamey the meat becomes. Don't bother trying to take a big boar for meat. It's just straight up nasty, not even fit for making sausage.

I don't think that stopped that guy.  He was feeding them a bunch of corn to keep them where he could see them.  Last I heard before he went to work for someone else, he was trying to get a big one that he saw a lot on his camera.

Side Note:  He shot them with an older Winchester 44 mag levergun.

I checked with friends in Detroit and Port Huron and it seems there is a large influx of Canadian prostitutes in those two cities.
