IMO, just seeing Jake and Hawkins crash the gate for "political asylum" at the
Embassy of the Independent Republic of Texas was worth watching the entire season and a half..
If this WAS where the writers were going from the beginning, a show about "The second American Civil War", I do kind of think it was kind of imaginative on their part. That the self-inflicted nuclear attack was simply a device to set the stage for that, and not the main thrust of the story itself.
Of course the downside is that a thinly re-named Blackwater and Haliburton were the bad guys was knee-jerk liberalism and tinfoil-hattery at it's best.
They should have just let it be Iran and NK, and let the domestic bad-guys just come out of the woodwork naturally from the old "power corrupts" meme...
