Georgia Police Close Girls' Lemonade Stand

Three girls setup a lemonade stand to raise money to go to a water park.

Police chief and another officer cruise by and notice the lemonade stand and shut it down for not having business license, peddler's permit and food permit to operate.  The police chief also stated that they (the police) didn't know how the lemonade was made, who made it or what was in it.

Wow, I am so glad that the police shut down those scofflaws and kept the public safe.      [ar15]

I have been seeing more and more cases like this.  It seems that they do it so they can pad the stats that they are doing something about crime.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

But hey, the girl's parents could have chosen to live in a different locality.

Anybody point out to them that they don't know what's in their coffee, either?

When one of these girls gets a summer job at the local cafe someday, they won't want to know what's in their coffee.

It's stuff like this that makes people up-armor a bulldozer and drive on city hall.....

The girls needed to pay their tax to city hall and the police have turned into revenue collectors.  If they cannot write a ticket for it, they won't do it.

That's just down the road from me. I suspect that folks in the community are going to make Morningstar regret that decision. Those officers might want to eat all their meals at home for a while.

Good Safety Tip !!!

Even Better Safety Tip !!!

Plus I think that C&SD would agree that in the interest of Officer Safety, Chief Morningstar and the other officer should have tased the girls first to ensure their compliance with the town's permitting process. :police: :police: :police:

Or, they could choose to use the democratic process where they live.

Does getting a stuck cat out of a tree require a SWAT team too?

Yes, the cat is shot for it's own good.  It failed to comply with the officer's orders.

The girls are now doing chores and yard work to make money.

Wait; how is that not child labor? Are they getting paid minimum wage for that yard work?

so now local cops can enforce federal laws WRT to food?
Does that mean AZ cops can enforce fed rules WRT immigration?

Having been involved in local politics, you have no idea how hard I'm laughing.

In fairness, yea, it is possible.

If their turnout is anything like ours, a citywide race could be taken entirely on nursing home residents, or a single neighborhood if you could actually get full turnout on either.

turnout can be key.  my town got a black mayor that way

http://www.shiloholdsite.org/history_davies_early.htm

a great mayor who held office for 20 year 76 to 96
he woulda won again but he ran instead for state office and lost.
