Pat Robertson: Pot should be legal like alcohol
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_PAT_ROBERTSON_MARIJUANA?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2012-03-08-13-11-19

When the drug warriors have lost Pat Robertson...Oh, heck, I am still wigging out too much from reading the article to come up with something witty.

Quote
Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says marijuana should be legalized and treated like alcohol because the government's war on drugs has failed.

The outspoken evangelical Christian and host of "The 700 Club" on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network he founded said the war on drugs is costing taxpayers billions of dollars. He said people should not be sent to prison for marijuana possession.

Hell just froze over.

I don't know what's more shocking: that Pat Robertson and I agree about something, or that the issue in question is de-criminalizing marijuana.

Saw this about an hour ago, and was frankly astonished.  PAT ROBERTSON is advocating legalized marijuana?!? One of the leaders in the "We know how you should live your life better than you do" group, is openly stating that the War On Some Drugs is bad, at least as applied to the so-aptly-named "weed"? ;/

this is pretty good news, now if only we can get the big gov't liberals who admit to smoking in college like Barry and Billy to go for legalization, R's too.
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

Not surprising. He must know that no one could watch The 700 Club without a good buzz.

The 700 Club gets bought out by Remington and becomes the 7420 club.

Lude dude.  Added:  A company named Rorer (sp?) made 714 Quaaludes - these were so popular in the 70's, and shipments were hijacked so frequently, they stopped shipping them. Not sure if they continued to make them again or not.  The Oxy of that time.

BTW- I also agree with Pat. It shouldn't be a legal matter for adults, unless it causes harm to others...same as with any other substance. Way too much time and money is spent on enforcing the law, and far too many rights violated over nothing. As they said in the 60's, Man made alcohol - God made grass- who do you trust?

Worse that that, he admits to watching the 700 club. I could except the fact that he was a pothead.

A friend of mine at the time was a welder.  Was working on a concrete form when a crane swung its hook into the side of his head, knocking him off the form and onto the bed of a flatbed truck.  He didn't work for years after that, and had a constant prescription for 714s.

As I recall, they were pretty powerful.  Errr... judging from how relaxed he became when taking them.  Yeah.   ;)

I saw it a few times in the 80s, usually because some adult turned it on.

Of course, I've also read the Communist Manifesto.

Your question frightens and confuses me.

I've never been much of a highlighter. I've been an under-liner at times. Why?
