Those are two different words.  They do not mean the same thing.

One of my pet peeves, although I'm not about to throw stones.

Then and Than.  Those are two different words.  They do not mean the same thing.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Aw, heck. Nothing so far I can relieve myself of snide remarks about.

Sometimes you just have to throw some snark out there.  It's a stress reliever.  =D

I've been seeing "excepted" instead of "accepted" quite a bit lately.

In fact a party store I plow snow at has a new, expensive sign that says, among other things, "Bridge card excepted."  I haven't had the heart yet to tell the owner, and I highly doubt many of his normal clientele would notice the error.

Could be worse. We had a butcher shop here with a sign that read "Becher Meats." ("Becher" is pronounced "bee chur").

A friend who is an EMT tells about a form that was filled out "paitent was full of rest".  You would think somebody who knows what "full arrest" means would know the term as well.

It's jerry-rigged, not jury-rigged.  From the pejoritive for Germans and results from German (esp. soldiers) ability to McGyver things together.

It's moot point.  Not mute point.  Moot: made un-necessary, pointless or irrelevant.

Let lose the dogs of war, Lord willing we will not loose!

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Actually it is "let slip the dogs of war".
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
