Bernalillo County sheriff Manny Gonzales straight up said he won't be enforcing governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's orwellian business closure, stay-at-home, and curfew mandates. His office will be concentrating on the things that matter... keeping the community safe and making it a place where people can live and prosper. Given that Bernalillo county is a fair chunk of New Mexico's cumulative population, both resident and business, this is effectively telling Governor Fancypants that her kind isn't welcome.

Good for him. Whatever he has, I hope it's contagious. Maybe then the state and fed govs will finally realize pathetic SJW ass-kissing isn't governance, it's capitulation.

Earlier this month LA and Orange county Sheriff's did much the same thing.

Sheriff's are elected and care what the people in their county think.  I wonder what the Police Chiefs are doing, as their jobs at more risk to policritters.

Just last month, voters in King County, the most populous county in Washington, voted to make the County Sheriff appointed by the County Council.  The intent was to make the Sheriff more 'responsive'. As far as I know, all other counties in Washington continue to elect their sheriff.
