Tonight, we are all Americans united by our common satisfaction in addressing an act of war against the United States. Is it necessary to use this occasion to try and score snark points against current and past Administrations?

Not quite true. He had to sign off on it, due to EO on assassinations and also on the military operation being in Pakistan. He didn't screw it up. That is worthy of respect, regardless of what you think of the man otherwise.

No person is all good or all bad. One can acknowledge a positive aspect, with or without saying that otherwise he is reprehensible.

Done inside Paki-land near the capitol.

That suggests we've had eyes on him for a while, long enough to get enough of our folks in place. If we did it without the cooperation of the Paki gov't, we had the info even longer, because that would necessitate more discretion on our part.

I'm not sure how large the compound was or how many enemy, but the usual outside support (in the absence of Paki gov't participation) would be lacking, making the pucker factor increase by a great bit. My hat's off to the folks who made it happen.

But will he continue to do good? Thats my question (and concern).

This fight isn't over yet. I'm happy that Bin Ladin is dead, but now the administration has to deal with the backlash.
And its going to be a tricky one.

No it won't. It won't make any difference whatsoever.
There are not enough people involved in "conspiracy theories" to have the effect merntioned.

Agreed. This is a time for celebration. As I type this, jubilant crowds have formed in Times Square and outside the White House.

There is more to be done against al-Qaeda, but this is a major victory for the U.S. Kudos to everyone who made it happen.

I just learned of it when getting off work at 10:30pm central.
An hour later I'm watching ABC news and they stated that OBL's body would be handled in accordance to muslim law/tradition.
What a load of crap. I'm sorry but to me he should be an exception.
Actually any muslim partaking in radical islamic acts, should all have there dead bodies bathed in pigs blood.
Muslims world round need to know that if you join this radical fight against the western world your body and soul will suffer eternal damnation in accordance to what you believe in.

Well, come November 2012 it won't look bad that this was done on his watch.

The official also said that Obama chaired five national security meetings since March to discuss intelligence on Osama bin Laden. Those meetings, the official said, were on March 14, March 19, April 12, April 19 and April 28. Obama authorized the attack on bin Laden on Friday, April 29, the official said.
