Isn't this another installment in Tarantino's "Grindhouse" homages to 1970's exploitation/C-movies?

And I'm not even sure it's going to be a mini-movie in his next Grindhouse. I thought it was just a trailer and that's all there is.

I'm not saying I like the premise, but this has been out there since before the whole Arizona thing became an issue.
I promise not to duck.

OMG, "saucy taco slinger"? That Wiki article is hilarious on its own. The film, if real, would be a laugh riot.

FYI, the video clip at aintitcool.com is NSFW for language.

Nice little dig at Arizona too.  ;/

Is there such a word as "brown-ploitation"?....  ;/

I believe "Mexploitation" is the preferred term.

I'll pass.  Trejo's OK as a supporting actor, but I'm getting too much of a "Mexicans good, gringos bad" vibe, especially from De Niro's stereotypical character.

In case anyone is interested, here is the original trailer from Grindhouse (also NSFW for language and nudity):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8cCzltPD6Y

Danny Trejo - World's Greatest Bad Guy (18+, NSFW, etc.)

I agree (wow!) with one of the YouTube comments: "How do you scare Chuck Norris? Get Danny Trejo."  =D

The trailer won't play nice on my machine, but I can't say no to the Trejo.  Want to see.

Either Rodriguez and Trejo are totally clueless, or they just don't care about how this film will make illegals look like dangerous insurgents.  I'm guessing some combination of the two.

I love that line by the bad guy, about how "illegals are being forced out of this country at an alarming rate."     Then I realize how that's not actually true.   =(

Bah. It's a movie. Nobody thought environmentalists were bloodthirsty psychopaths after seeing any of Steven Seagal's recent work.
Okay, after drinking Steven Seagal's Lightning Bolt, they probably did. Did his reality cop show get canceled?

This movie is just missing a cameo by Paris Hilton to make it complete. Other than that, it's a great combination of insanity and fun. Lohan, DeNiro, Seagal, etc.

It's a movie. It has explosions. Questions?

I think you guys don't understand how people work.
They wont even notice the Mexicans killing everyone in the movie, they'll notice how obnoxious DeNiro's character is and say, "THAT'S HOW ALL RIGHT WING POLITICIANS ARE" and at the conspiracy to frame the hero character and say "WOW WHITE PEOPLE/RIGHT WINGERS SURE ARE EVIL"
The "making them look like insurgents and nutters" only works when the people being betrayed are white, middle to lower class, and right leaning.

You can see the other side of it right in this thread. Many of you have already -- rightly -- said, "It's just a movie, have fun with it". That's a conservative / libertarian way of thinking. All too many people who are into socialism will do what Mabs said. I refer you to your average Che T-shirt wearer.

Well, I just hate the term "insurgent." Why don't they just call them terrorists?

Heck, "insurgent" is pretty darn close to "freedom fighter."

You know, I'll bet the public affairs guys in Baghdad have at least one of 'em a week...

"Hi - I'm Rodney, and I'm from Channel 38 in Tampa. I'm going to go undercover, and embed myself with some insurgents."

"Son, they're gonna beat on you, and then cut your head off."

"No they won't. They'll be able to tell that I want to tell their story."

"Uh... Specialist, why don't you get Rodney here an escort?"
