fords and chevys
« on: October 23, 2012, 08:52:57 PM »
so i have this friend who used to sell for the chevy dealer.  he is very knowledgable about cars, and while he was there he told me that chevy made the very best car bar none.  he would even go on about how and why the other cars were not the right ones for me, and insist that chevy was the way to go.  now he works for the ford dealer.  it seems everything he said about ford before was a lie, as now he swears up and down that they have the best product.  can i ever trust a thing he tells me, ever?

for those of you who are wondering why this is in the politics forum........... give it a minute.

Humans lie to themselves all the time.

Choose friends who demonstrate self awareness and an ethical foundation and you can limit these dilemmas a bit.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I grew up in a 18436572 household. Damn shame I can't buy a new GM for a long damn time until the stain of their nationalization fades. I've gotten some very durable service out of several late model fords despite their inability to build the same part two years in a row.

I saw what you did there!

For the non-gearhead among us, that's the firing order of GM v8 engines. It may be for *all* v8 engines bit I know it's true for Chevy small- and big-block engines.

36 - too old
24 - just right

It's also the Mopar  firing order, and if you squint just right it's also Ford's 15426378 order. To do it you need to renumber the Ford like a GM. There's an alternate Ford pattern of 13726548 that I suspect is the same as GM's alternate pattern referred to as a "3-7 swap" but I haven't cared enough to check. Just like I haven't bothered to check BMW, et al  to see if theirs match up.

In a few years, the new ObamaMotors firing order will be 12, or maybe 21  =(
