Cremation of 800lb man starts structure fire

While I don't especially dislike the obese, it's hard to belief that anyone who is not severely mentally ill could get to 800lbs.

I  have heard of this cremation fires involving the morbidly obese.  The melting body fat increases the flame intensity beyond what the facility is designed to handle.

I, too, have heard of multiple instances of this occuring.

Apparently sufficient numbers of crematory operators are unaware of this to continue to provide us with these stories.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

One has to wonder just how hard it would really be to build a crematorium that's actually, you know, fireproof.

Make it out of the same firebrick and mortar as foundry furnaces, and put it on the exterior of the building with a sufficient firebreak and/or just a gap with water spray in it.

They couldn't do him a bit a time?

(I kid)

But, you'd think that they would have figured it out by now.

But from the pictures, it appears to have been a chimney fire.

Or just burn the more combustable people in a lime kiln.

Again, easy enough to prevent by making sure everything combustible gets plenty of oxygen to burn it up while it's still in a chamber designed to take the heat.

I imagine the coffin and over-size burial plot would have been very expensive.

The sad thing is at 800 lbs, he probably can't move around and someone keeps feeding him.

Apparently the fat slabs off and goes  the chimney and lands on the roof.
And there are special procedures in place but they fall short at a certain critical mass

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

It sounds like that is what they are in the process of, in a way. ;)

That's the first time i've seen thick black smoke coming out of their chimney.  Usually it's an off-white tending towards battleship grey.  (And no, I do not hang out there waiting to see smoke from their stack, but I know where it is and travel near there fairly often.)

My guess is that the "afterburner" was overwhelmed and ignited particles were lifted past it to land on the roof.  The addition of an "afterburner" and a fly-catcher makes cremation much more acceptable in locations that are not way out in the country.

Someone on the fire department that responded told me that it was a "good thing" the rubberized roof caught fire, as that masked the odor of the burning fat.  It's not shown in the video but there is a McDonalds just a block away.  The thought of Mickey D's vented fat and that from the crematorium mixing in the neighborhood is almost too much for even my imagination.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.
